Thanks to the generous community's support, we collected 482 pounds of non-perishable goods and $138 donated to the Merced County Food bank.
After only a week of planning, all of us were excited for the opportunity of hosting our first drive-thru food drive event. The pandemic had greatly impacted food insecurity throughout the world, and our goal was to collect as much goods to help local families facing hunger. From cereal to canned beans, each and every item would be greatly appreciated, and our goal was just to collect two boxes of food. However, we were absolutely shocked at the end of the food drive when we greatly exceeded our expectations.
The first day of the food drive was going relatively slow, but it was such a coincidence that Angel Barragan was just walking by. He started to livestream our event on Facebook, and after that, generous donations from our community started to pour in. We were even more astonished with Mayor Matthew Serratto and Josh Pedrozo showed up to support us!
While working together, we all had an amazing time learning about each other and sharing stories. It seems like the time flies by when you're making memories full of laughter and joy with friends. We can't wait for our next community project!
